Yes, you can turn off the LEDs on the raspberry pi model 3.
This was tested on the raspberry pi model 3 B+
The line below is used to turn off the power LED
sudo sh -c ‘echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/led1/brightness’
The line below is used to turn off the action LED
sudo sh -c ‘echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/led0/brightness’

Not quite right – follow this guide listed here, from BBC, then comment out first line of server.conf (#) to prevent binding error on start;
update the iptables with:
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s 10.8.0.0/24 -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE
then install iptables-persistent package to commit changes across reboots. If you make the change after installing iptables-peristent, then run command
sudo su -c ‘iptables-save > /etc/iptables/rules.v4’
